Dorkbot:39 Movie Night

When:

June 4, 2007 - 7:30pm

Where:

911 Media Arts
402 9th Ave N
Seattle, WA, 98109

What:

This Wednesday, June 4th we'll be hosting a short movie and social Dorkbot! We will show about an hour or so of short movies, and then socialize and drink beers. What more could you ask for on a summer Wednesday evening?

Our short videos include:

--->""Evidence," a videotape that chronicles the confiscation of numerous things from artist Steven Kurtz's house and the garbage (pizza boxes, soft drink containers, etc.) that the FBI agents left behind. His art group created projects about such things as genetic engineering, in an effort to demystify and critique corporate culture. http://www.critical-art.net/, presented by Christopher Prosser.

--->Seattle Power Tool Race and Derby: People Doing Strange Things with Belt Sanders: http://hazardfactory.org/toolrace.html , presented by Divide

---->Experimental movie of images and sound, and also the much-discussed copyright-bending movie from Stanford using microclips of Disney movies to discuss copyright and fair use, presented by Carl J.

----> And more! A few of you sent me your favorite YouTube shorts, if we have time we'll show them.

Doors will be open at 7:00 if you want to show up early and chat.

If you want to talk about your latest creation or announce an upcoming event during our "open dork" session, let me know! If you'd like to speak or perform at, or curate, a future dorkbot, talk to me or email me at shellyhivemind@gmail.com.

Looking forward to seeing you all on the 4th. Special thanks as ever go to 911 Media, our fabulous hosts.
